These photos were taken at the MacArthur Landing Memorial National Park in Palo, Leyte, Philippines. To get there you can take a bus from Manila which takes about 24 hours or you can take a flight from Manila into Tacloban which takes about 1 hour.
The statues are of General Douglas MacArthur, President-in-exile Sergio Osmeña, Lieutenant General Richard Sutherland, Brigadier General Carlos P. Romulo, Major General Courtney Whitney, Sergeant Francisco Salveron and CBS Radio correspondent William J. Dunn. The statues mark the spot where MacArthur fulfilled his promise of “I shall return”.
