Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the military. People visit cemeteries and memorials to honor those who have died in military service and place an American flag on the graves.
If you see coins left on a veterans grave each denomination has its own meaning. A single penny left means someone has visited the grave to pay their respects. A nickel means that the visitor was at boot camp with the deceased. A dime means it was left by someone who served with them. And a quarter means it was left by someone who was present when the soldier died.
Remember that Memorial Day is to honor all those women and men who has died while in uniform serving this great nation of ours and Veterans Day is to honor all who has served.
Take a moment to listen and watch this powerful speech from Ronald Reagan, at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in 1985.
